The Farmacy Berkeley Cannabinoid Series: CBN, CBG, and CBC
While we’ve covered popular cannabinoids like THC and CBD in past articles in our series on cannabinoids and their effects, we’ve really only scratched the surface. Scientists believe there are over 100 different cannabinoids, all with their own unique effects.
With that in mind, we wanted to cover a few of the lesser-known but extremely promising cannabinoids you might not have heard of— and that all have a similar chemical makeup. They’re known as CBN, CBG, and CBC.
What are CBN, CBG, and CBC and How Do They Work?
Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that provide cannabis with its effects, including everything from the high you experience with some strains to the medical and wellness benefits you can experience.
CBN, CBG, and CBC aren’t as common as some of the other cannabinoids, and often show up in cannabis products only in very small amounts. That said, they can be extremely potent when it comes to their health benefits, even if they don’t result in a euphoric high.
CBN (short for cannabinol) has become increasingly popular over the last few years as a sleep aid, and research has shown that it might actually be even more effective for aiding sleep than CBD.
People who experience eye soreness, headaches, or glaucomas may experience reduced pain and discomfort thanks to CBG, even when it’s present in very small amounts.
Scientists are still trying to learn exactly what CBC can do, but based on early research it appears to help reduce anxiety and stress.
