About Terpenes Like Ocimene, Linalool, & Bisabolol
Terpenes are naturally occurring oils that help make cannabis strains unique. They provide unique aromas and flavors, and we’re also discovering that they have a wide range of health and wellness benefits, too. These terpenes may not get as much attention as cannabinoids like CBD and THC, but they’re worth knowing about the next time you head to Farmacy Berkeley and pick up some cannabis.
This week, we’re covering three terpenes you may not know about— but you should. They can do an impressive amount of good for your mind, body, and spirit as part of your cannabis experience. Today is all about ocimene, linalool, and bisabolol.
Benefits of Ocimene
If you’ve ever enjoyed a strain of cannabis with a sweet minty, citrusy or earthy flavor, chances are it contained some amount of ocimene. Ocimene is found in several cannabis strains, and also appears in parsley, mint, and orchid plants.
While ocimene is rarely the dominant terpene in a strain of cannabis, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have something to offer. Ocimene seems to act as an anti-inflammatory agent, as well as a potential treatment for diabetes. We hope to learn more about ocimene and its benefits as more research is released.
Benefits of Linalool
Love the smell of lavender? You’re not alone. That lovely, calming aroma is owed in large part to linalool, a terpene found in lavender plants that also appears in many cannabis strains.
Linalool’s other benefits include acting as an antimicrobial, reducing stress, treating the symptoms of epilepsy, and helping relax muscles and relieve pain by limiting pain signals being sent from your body to the brain.
Benefits of Bisabolol
Bisabolol is found in a range of cannabis strains, and it’s also found in other natural plants and herbs— particularly chamomile. As you’d expect, it has a nice flowery fragrance that our customers love. Besides that, it’s also an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, and antimicrobial. That’s a whole lot of benefits for one nice-smelling oil.
